BIENVENUE!! WELCOME!!

Bienvenue! Welcome!

Summer has flown by and a new school year is ready to get underway! I am so excited to be part of Room 5 this year! I have been a part of Bannatyne School for many years (I came here as a student in the 80s) and I'm excited to continue to be part of such a great, caring community of people!

There will be lots more blog posts as the weeks progress but I just wanted to post a few of our exciting updates!
1. Terry Fox's Brother. We had the honour of meeting a Terry Fox's brother today.  He gave a great presentation about the strength and courage of Terry Fox.  We are looking forward to participating in the Terry Fox Run at our school on Sept. 30th.

2. Story of My Name
This week we will be exploring our names and what they mean.  I've emailed a little info sheet about the activity and some questions you can hopefully help your child answer.  I sent home a sheet where you can jot down some notes that will help me help your child when he/she is presenting about their name to the class this Friday.

3. DOT DAY!
On Thursday, September 15th, our class will be participating in Dot Day, a day to celebrate creativity, courage and collaboration. Based on the picture book, The Dot, written by Peter H. Reynolds, Dot Day is a day celebrated in schools around the world to foster creativity and inspire our students to go out and make their mark. In Room 5, we will be reading books by Peter H. Reynolds and have fun creating our own dot art. Students are invited to wear polka-dot clothing or accessories. Looking forward to creating some wonderful art together next Thursday!

Happy November Room 5!

First off, we want to send A HUGE thank you to all of our parent volunteers last week with our Pumpkin Day and Halloween celebration.  Neither day would have been possible without your help. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! Please check out our Instagram to see some pictures from the celebrations.

I will be emailing out the November Newsletter first thing Monday morning and will also be putting a November calendar in your child's communication folder.

Science:  We are in need of empty, clean milk cartons to help us with a science project by Tuesday, November 17th.

Please let me know if you have any questions and thanks for your support.

Merci,

Mme Nadine St-Onge

This week we have a lot of great things on the go.

TIA - Our guest artist Mme Ardyth Johnson who is a physical theater performer and teacher will be with us for 3 - 1 hour lessons this week.  You can find our some more information about her here. It's going to be so much fun!

Home Reading Program - This week we are starting our Home Reading Program. I am sending home information on Monday, October 26th.  Here is a digital copy of the letter with some suggestions on how you can help support your child in their reading.

Pumpkin Day - Thursday morning we will be celebrating Pumpkin Day by exploring pumpkins through a variety of science centres.

Halloween Party - Friday afternoon we will be celebrating halloween!!  Just a reminder that we will only be wearing costumes in the afternoon and we ask that no toy weapons come to school.
